Community Oriented -
The Virginia Woof Dog Daycare Center is owned and operated by Outside In, a 501(c)(3) social-service agency. Outside In has been serving the community since 1968 and has been providing services for homeless youth longer than any other agency in Portland.
Recognition -
Virginia Woof has received national recognition from the Federal Department of Labor as a best practices program.
Community Support -
We are fortunate to have strong community support for the Virginia Woof Dog Daycare. We are thankful to our funders for believing in us and providing start-up costs for the program:
- Meyer Memorial Trust
- Paul G. Allen Family Foundation
- The Bill Healy Foundation
- Swigert Foundation
- The Autzen Foundation
- The Ann & Bill Swindells Charitable Trust
- The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer Care Foundation
- Regional Arts & Culture Council
- Gus Van Sant
- Worksystems Inc.
- Hayden Properties
- Portland Rotary
- Rose E. Tucker Charitable Trust
- Mr. Anonymous
We are also thankful for our partnership with the business community. Local businesses see the benefit in providing internships or job placements for youth who have successfully completed the intensive job training program at Virginia Woof.
Local Dog Daycare owners, veterinarians, business-leaders, and Outside In staff collaborated to design a program that is effective and results-oriented. Additionally, the commitment, vision and dedication of Outside In's Board of Director's was instrumental in planning a job training program that truly turns lives around.
